The new roomate

My roomate that I have lived with for over four years is moving to NY to be closer to her boyfriend. We needed to find someone to fill her spot and a weird succession of events brought me roomate A'(read "A prime", as in the first derivative, I'm a dork...). To refresh your memory roomate B is the one moving to NY and roomate A is a close friend I have lived with for 1.5 years and she is staying.

We didn't know A', but agreed that before any of us made any final decisions we should hang out a little bit and get to know each other. A' agreed to meet us at a friday after work concert.

A little background on A':

She is a baby just graduated from undergrad. Found out she started a job in my city in 2 weeks and was desperate for a place to live. She is an artist. Has lots of brothers and sisters whom she spends most of her time with...doesn't drink at all...

I took a few friends with me to the concert, including the GF.

We met up with her, I introduced my friends and my GF as such.

Later she asked me if I was dating someone. Perplexed, I pointed to my GF and said "her". And then she became quite perplexed...

Anyhow, while I think we may have stunned her a little. She seemed like a sweet girl who would be easy to live with. She described herself as a neat freak...awesome...we like to keep our place clean.

She moved in...

Turns out her definition of neat freak is a little different than mine and A's:



In case you can't tell. That, my friends is a mixture of crumbs, oats, and instant coffee adding quite an array of colors and textures to my smooth black stove and counter top.

I cleaned it off daily at first, just because it is habit for me to keep my counters free of crumbs. Then I tried leaving it to see what she would do....absolutely nothing!

She is quite naive as well. One day she asked me "do people break into houses in this neigborhood".....ummmmm people break into houses in all neighborhoods hun...

I also told her, just in case my parents were ever over at the house, that I am not out to my parents. She looked at me like I had two head and said "I don't know what that means". WTF...what world has this girl been living in????

She also apparently, according to roomate A, spits toothpaste all over the fixtures of the bathroom sink, and has left my bike in the middle of the hallway so she could get her's out.

Still not the worst roomate that we could have gotten. Now I just have to find a ways to tell her she needs to clean her shit up. I hate raising other people's babies....
