Because I hate to be left hanging...
Things were definitely at a low point when I wrote that last post. As of today, grandmother has been moved into a nursing home, which will be known from here on out as her 'fitness retreat'. She is there for a temporary stay to get her strength and balance back, so she can at least use the restroom safely without assistance.
The place she is at now is nothing like the 'fitness retreat' I used to sing carols at as a child. There is no smell of urine, the rooms are huge and homely.
When we first started looking for places to go, the name of that place I used to sing, the only one in the area for many years, was the first to come up. And with it, the sights and smells as though I had just been there yesterday. Of course, through the eyes of child things can appear differently, but the odor is distinct and unmistakeable. That place may be different now, but I still couldn't stand the thought of my grandmother going to the place I held in my memories.
We went with the newer facility. Her friend called and said she had been there and had no complaints. Quite honestly, I would be happy staying there myself. They have a 'spa' for use at their leisure!
Now that grandmother is on the mend and mom is almost recovered from one hell of a stomach bug, it's back to operation graduate.
I wish I had a fun picture to share, but grandmother said she would render my camera unusable if I took a picture of her without her hair being done. Such a priss! But soooo glad she feels good enough to care!
